Hide in the Hoodoos at Cinnamon Ridge...
Kamloops is ancient volcano country and Cinnamon Ridge, part of the Lac du Bois Grasslands Protected Area, is made up of volcanic rocks that erupted about 50 million years ago. Hikers can expect to see an assortment of plants including cactus, sagebrush, pine trees and assorted grasses, as well as a variety of birds, California Bighorn Sheep and maybe even a mountain lion. There are three trails located past Tranquille road as you head out to Kamloops Lake they include: Mara Trail, Dewdrop Trail and Cinnamon Ridge Trail.

Mara Trail- 3.5 km loop trail
· Overlooks Kamloops Lake and Thompson River.
· Directions: Approx 15 minutes from downtown Kamloops. Follow Tranquille Rd. to the west, turn right onto Red Lake Rd, cross the train tracks and parking is on the right hand side of the road.

Dewdrop Trail - 5.7 km linear trail
· Spectacular views overlooking Kamloops Lake and the underlying valley. · Directions: Approximately 25 minutes from downtown Kamloops. Take Tranquille Rd.west, turn left onto Red Lake Rd. At approx. 4 km mark (at the switchback) on Red Lake Rd, turn left onto Frederick Rd. The parking area is approx. 700 meters down theroad (2nd pullout to the right). Look for signs at the parking area. Cinnamon Ridge Trail- 4.25 km trail
· Features hoodoos. · Ascends up a ridge and part way up Mara hill. · Directions: Approx 15 minutes from downtown Kamloops, Follow Tranquille Rd to the west, turn right on Ord Rd. cross over the train tracks, parking at the end of Ord Rd.
