Let your Imagination Hop Aboard a Miniature Train
Poul and Ulla Pedersen from Denmark, along with their daughter Lotte Mendes, have turned their passion for model trains into a full time job. The family moved to Canada in search of a dry climate to ease the pain of Ulla’s arthritis and in 2002, set up their model trains in a warehouse in Osoyoos and opened it
up to the public. Ulla has hand painted over 15,000 tiny figures which create scenes such as a ski hill, military base, skate-boarder park and open-pit mine.

She claims that painting the figures is great therapy for her arthritis. The European-themed railroad is housed in a 4000-square foot room. The 25 computer controlled trains travel on 2 kilometers of tracks. The attention to detail is incredible. Amongst the intricate scenes is an amusement park with a functioning Ferris wheel, a ski hill with a moving lift, tiny moving windmills to provide imaginary electricity and freight that stop at industrial plants. Poul, the engineer, is usually on hand to point out tiny places of interest and dim the lights so guests can view the city lights.
