Water from the creek cascades down a sheer rock face and creates a natural shower - one that tempts many an adventurous swimmer in the summer months. Although there is a warning sign, numerous people climb into the small pool and sneak into the cave hidden inside the waterfall. Some also claim to see the image of Jesus Christ sitting on a throne, hidden in the falls. For those wanting a more challenging workout, try the Upper Canyon Trail. The 2.5 km one-way trail takes you to a beautiful south-east viewpoint overlooking the Salmon Arm section of Shuswap Lake. The trail then follows Reinecker Creek high above Margaret Falls to a bridge where you cross and return to the trail parking lot. Although Harold Park is closed in the winter and early spring, the falls are open year round.
HOW TO GET THERE...
To get here from Kamloops, travel towards Salmon Arm on the Trans-Canada Hwy 1 and turn off onto Sunnybrae Canoe Point Road just before Tappen. Follow the signs to Harold Park for about 12 kilometers and you will see the parking lot for the falls just after the entrance to Harold Park. |
