The Story of Teresa the Traveler

The year was 2005 and my life seemed perfect.  I owned a house with a backyard pool in Kamloops where I hosted many a karaoke pool party.  I was a Red Seal electrician with my own company and I had a part time job as an electrical instructor’s assistant at Thompson Rivers University.  Everything was going well in my life but there was one problem, I was depressed and unfulfilled.

One day I made a radical change.  I closed my business, quit my job and sold my house.  Then I bought a camera, video recorder, laptop and a plane ticket.  On September 12th 2005 I landed in London England with literally no reservations and no itinerary.  My only goal was to make it to Egypt three months later in time to catch my return flight to Canada.

I had never felt so scared and so alive in my life.  As I wandered through Europe and Egypt, I found myself at many famous places including: Stonehenge, La Sangria Familia, Ibiza, the Roman Colosseum, the Louvre Museum, the Acropolis, Santorini, the Red Sea and King Tutt’s Tomb.

That trip led to my first book called “From London to Cairo on a Tall Budget and Short Attention Span” which inspired me to continue writing about my adventures.  It also led to my first YouTube Channel called Teresa the Traveler as well as two Teresa the Traveler websites.

Over the years, through my videos and social media posts, I have inspired countless people to interrupt the routine of daily life and explore the world whether it be a hike to a nearby waterfall or a backpacking trip through South America. I believe travel equals happiness and I want to share the joy with the world.
